AngryGinge, a popular sports influencer, was arrested on suspicion of causing damage worth $63,000 to an F1 car at Silverstone during the British GP.

The 23-year-old, who has over 1.9 million followers on TikTok and more than 800,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel, was accompanied by Chazza and SamHam, who are also influencers, on the day of the incident.

According to a report by The Sun, the three were detained by UK police on charges of damaging a Racing Point vehicle. They denied the accusations and were released later.

“On Friday, July 4, Northamptonshire Police received a report that a classic Formula 1 car on display at Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix had sustained damage worth several thousand pounds,” said a spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police.

“[The damage] is believed to have been caused by someone who accessed the exhibition stand and climbed onto the vehicle. Officers carried out initial investigations and the suspects were identified.”

“Three men, aged 23, 25, and 27, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to a vehicle and taken into police custody. Following a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the three were released,” the spokesperson added.

AngryGinge revealed the incident in a live stream in which he appeared wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. He stated that he spent 15 hours in a cell and wasn’t even interviewed before being released along with his friends.

“They got us. They arrested Chazza for sitting in a car, criminal damage they tried to say. 30 grand, they tried to say. They arrested us for watching someone else sit in a car,” he joked.
