La Línea, a Mexican cartel, launched a drone attack using explosive devices against rival cartel Sinaloa.

Footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) shows the attack taking place in the state of Chihuahua. The event is yet another instance of drones being used in cartel warfare in Mexico — a trend that is becoming increasingly common among non-state armed groups.

In March, the Mexican cartel El Tena used drones in an attack against a vehicle belonging to rival cartel CJNG near the town of Chinicuila, in the western state of Michoacán.

At that time, an El Tena operator used a civilian drone converted into a weapon to drop a free-fall homemade bomb on their opponents.

The practice was first discovered last September when Mexican authorities, following a tip from U.S. officials, arrested two drone operators near the border wall in Juárez.

“We encounter drones every day. Cartels use them to track the movements of law enforcement and figure out how to control access points,” explained Walter N. Slosar, Acting Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector.
