The New York Police Department found a drone approximately 1.5 meters in diameter. The object was found amidst an increase in reports of mysterious drones in the state area.
Officers from the New York Police Department found a 1.5-meter drone on the sidewalk of Fifth Street. The object belonged to Amogy Inc., a sustainable energy startup.
The company’s CEO, Seonghoon Woo, later stated that the unmanned aerial vehicle had been placed on the sidewalk about a month ago after being used in a clean energy technology demonstration three years ago and had been displayed outside the company’s headquarters since then.
“The NYPD took possession of the drone for a brief period. Amogy fully cooperated with the NYPD, and the drone was returned to the company after the NYPD determined it was not a threat,” said a spokesperson for Amogy Inc.
The number of drone sightings has increased following incidents involving mysterious drones in the skies of New Jersey and New York in November.
