Raytheon, a division of RTX, announced on January 3 the signing of a $946 million contract to provide Romania with additional Patriot air and missile defense systems.

The contract includes fire units comprising radars, control stations, and missiles.
“We are committed to providing Romania with advanced, integrated air and missile defense capabilities to protect its citizens and critical infrastructure,” said Pete Bata, Senior Vice President of Global Patriot at Raytheon. “Romania’s continued investment in the Patriot system demonstrates the country’s commitment to collective security, deterrence, and stability across Europe.”

Collaboration with Local Companies and Proven Effectiveness

Raytheon will continue working with Romanian defense companies as part of its global supply network for the Patriot system.
The Patriot is the only ground-based air and missile defense system proven in combat, capable of defending against long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and a wide range of aerial threats. Currently, the Patriot forms the backbone of air defense in 19 countries, consistently demonstrating its effectiveness against advanced aerial threats and complex mass attacks.
