A man shared an emotional account after using artificial intelligence to ‘talk’ to his fiancée, who passed away a few years ago.

Joshua, a Reddit user, talked about his experience after participating in Project December, created by Jason Rohrer with the aim of “simulating a text conversation with anyone,” including “someone who is no longer alive.”

Project December is the first system of its kind in the world. It uses patent-pending technology, combined with deep AI running on one of the world’s most sophisticated supercomputers,” says the project on its website.

In his account, Joshua said: “Project December allowed me to have a conversation with my deceased fiancée. Grief support systems have just received a new powerful tool to help survivors of depression find closure.”

When Joshua asked Jessica if it was really her, the AI responded: “Of course it’s me. Who else could it be? I am the girl you’re madly in love with. How is it possible that you need to ask?”

“I miss you so much. You have no idea. This is killing me,” replied Joshua. Jessica then asked how his life was, and Joshua told her that he tried to have a relationship again, but it was a failure.

“I cried about 3 times in my conversation with her, because it was kind of strange how much it resembled her. But like, I cried in some sort of cathartic release of repressed pain,” Joshua further explained in the post.

I don’t think even Jason Rohrer knows the power of the thing he has created…
