A woman was surprised to find a long-lost family locket in a Facebook post.

Imagine receiving a Facebook notification and, upon opening the post, seeing a photo of an old item with pictures of your grandparents that no one had seen for a long time.

But that’s exactly what happened to Canadian Kelly Brown, who was shocked to find black-and-white photos of her grandfather and grandmother inside a heart-shaped locket in a social media post.

In an interview with CTV News, the author of the post, Alison Anne, said she bought the locket at a thrift store after noticing that the man in the photo was connected to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

She thought that if she posted an image of the locket on social media, she might find the real owner of the piece — and against all odds, her attempt worked.

“I’m a bit speechless,” said Brown, recalling the moment she realized the photos were of her grandparents. “It’s such a surreal and incredible moment. The power of social media doing something good.”

After meeting, Anne and Brown decided to go to the local Royal Canadian Legion branch to talk about the locket and reminisce about family, war, and history.

“I’m still mesmerized. Still in shock. Like, is this real? I had to ask people if they were my grandparents. And then I had the same photos in my old albums, and I just… I’m amazed,” Brown revealed.
