On Monday (2nd), Sybil Robertson was walking her dog when she found an oarfish on a beach on the west coast of Tasmania. The sighting of this animal can be considered a sign of the apocalypse.

The oarfish lives between 200 and 1000 meters below the sea surface and can grow up to 11 meters long, although most are about 3 meters.

It is usually only spotted after storms or if injured, which is a very rare occurrence.

Ancient legends say they are a bad omen if seen far from their natural habitat. It is also believed that earthquakes often happen after a human finds an oarfish.

Because of these superstitions, they are known as “apocalypse fish” or “messengers of doom.”

Sybil Robertson posted images on Facebook showing the silvery, shiny animal with coloring on its head that was found stranded on the beach.

“It was amazing. I just knew it was something unusual and strange,” she told MailOnline.

“I could see it was a long fish, but had no idea what kind of fish it was. When I got closer, I could see the beautiful coloring around the head and the markings on it were fabulous,” she told ABC News.
