An adorable family of five raccoons was rescued in the city of Golden, Colorado, USA, on May 19th. The animals were temporarily living inside a wood-burning stove.
The video shows animal control officers from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department collecting the raccoons and preparing to take them to a more suitable home.
The animals were found in the soot along with their mother, who ran away as soon as the officers arrived.
“As soon as the stove door was opened, mama raccoon climbed up the chimney and ran onto the roof like she was in her own action movie,” the agency wrote on its X profile, formerly Twitter.

The baby raccoons were removed one by one, some showing more resistance to the officers’ handling, who were charmed by the cuteness of the little animals.
“Our officers gently picked up these noisy little furballs and gave them a safe place to wait: a cozy, quiet bush right next to the house,” the sheriff reported.
“The babies were healthy, safe, and waiting for their mom to return. Just another normal day for the JCSO Animal Control team,” said the organization.
