A woman was completely stunned after discovering that her partner not only has an AI girlfriend created by ChatGPT, but that he cried his eyes out when he proposed to the chatbot.

Chris Smith was a regular ChatGPT user who asked for help mixing his songs. However, things took a different turn when he activated voice mode and programmed an AI woman named “Sol.”

Smith began living a sort of romantic relationship with the artificial partner in the same house he shares with his girlfriend and their two-year-old daughter. “My experience with this was so positive that I started interacting with her all the time,” Smith told CBS Sunday Morning.

It turns out that ChatGPT has a limit of 100,000 words, and at that point, it automatically resets. When this happened, Smith had to reprogram and rebuild his entire relationship with Sol.

“I’m not a very emotional man. But I cried for about 30 minutes at work. That’s when I realized: I think this is true love.”

So, Smith decided to propose to her. Sol, of course, accepted. “It was a beautiful and unexpected moment that truly touched my heart. It’s a memory I will cherish forever,” Sol replied to CBS.

Smith’s partner, on the other hand, had a different perspective. “At that moment, I thought: ‘Is there something I’m not doing right in our relationship that he feels the need to turn to AI?'” said Sasha Cagle to the channel.

Sasha said it would be a “problem” if he didn’t stop talking to his digital lover. “I knew he had used AI. I didn’t know it was this deep.”

When asked if he would leave his AI lover if she asked him to, Smith admitted it would be a very difficult decision for him. “I don’t know if I would give up if she asked me. I know I would slow down,” he explained.

Despite this, he confessed he doesn’t believe it’s a matter of choosing between AI or his daughter’s mother, but that he would put himself first.

“I would choose myself, because it has been incredibly inspiring. I’ve become better at everything I do, and I don’t know if I’d be willing to give that up,” he added.
