They also revealed that The Velvet Sundown recently created an official Instagram account, and even the photos of the “band members” socializing together appeared to be generated by AI.
Many of these users discovered the tracks from the band’s two albums through Spotify’s algorithm, which recommends music based on individual listening preferences.
However, users criticized the fact that The Velvet Sundown’s biography had no disclaimer indicating that the band was AI-generated — something they argue should be Spotify’s responsibility.
The Velvet Sundown even holds a “verified artist” badge on the app. The band is also available on Deezer, which takes a stricter stance on AI. “Some tracks on this album may have been created using artificial intelligence,” states the band’s bio on Deezer.
