A passenger who was allegedly on board the same Air India plane that crashed last Thursday (12th) reported that “nothing was working” on the aircraft hours before the fatal accident.

The Air India flight AI171 crashed minutes after taking off from Ahmedabad airport. Of the 242 people on board, only one man survived, the British Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.

“The sole survivor is being treated in a hospital. The passengers included 169 Indians, 53 Brits, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian,” Air India stated in a release.

Hours before the fatal crash, a man identified as Akash Vatsa reportedly posted a video inside the Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner for a flight earlier that day.

The flight departed from Delhi bound for Ahmedabad airport. However, in the videos posted by Vatsa, he reported that “nothing was working” on the aircraft, including air conditioning, monitors, cabin lights, and call buttons.

“The air conditioning isn’t working at all. And, as always, your TV screens aren’t working either, nor is this button to call the crew,” Vatsa wrote in posts on X (formerly Twitter).

“Nothing is working. Nothing! Not even the lights. Is this what you’re providing?” he lamented, revealing he was sweating heavily during the flight due to the air being off.

Ramesh, the only surviving passenger, told Hindustan Times that the plane’s lights “started flickering” before the aircraft hit the ground.

His survival was possible because he was sitting in the “miracle seat,” 11A. “When I saw the exit, I thought I could get out. I tried, and I succeeded. Maybe the people on the other side of the plane didn’t make it.”

“I don’t know how I survived. I saw people dying right before my eyes – the flight attendants and two people I saw near me… I got out of the wreckage,” Vishwash admitted to the outlet.
