A document from the European Union (EU) revealed that Samsung batteries last twice as long as Apple batteries. The information was shared by the website Android Authority.
According to the report, the documents detail how Samsung’s battery models last up to 2,000 cycles before reaching 80% battery health. Meanwhile, competitors like Apple, Google, and Motorola only last about 1,000 cycles or fewer.
The document was published following a regulation that came into effect on June 20 in the European Union, which mandates that electronics manufacturers must clearly and standardizedly report the actual lifespan of their devices.
The rule also requires the inclusion of data about energy efficiency and physical durability of smartphones sold in the European continent.
However, some manufacturers in the industry have questioned the methodology used. According to them, the data is provided by the companies themselves to EPREL, managed by the EU, and no independent tests were conducted.
Apple, for instance, criticized the results for iPads, claiming a lack of transparency in the assessment and a small sample size for analyzing the results.
