After Donald Trump announced an increase in tariffs on imported products from China and other countries around the world, Apple began devising some strategies to maintain its prices, at least for now.
With projections that Apple would have to drastically raise iPhone prices in the US to offset part of the tariffs for consumers, it seems the company is not yet ready to make that announcement.
According to reports from the Indian press, Apple allegedly filled five planes with iPhones and other branded products before the tariffs came into effect. In this way, the company could maintain its prices, at least while stocks last.
According to a local newspaper, the company’s plan was to fly these planes from India to the United States at the end of March, before the 26% tariffs imposed on the Asian country took effect. But the information was not (and probably will not be) confirmed by Apple.
If the stock runs out and Apple has to raise its prices, it will hit consumers’ wallets hard. A projection by Rosenblatt Securities revealed that the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max in the US could rise from $1,599 to around $2,300.
