Apple is developing a new version of Siri, internally referred to as “LLM Siri“, based on its own language models.

The update aims to make the assistant more conversational and competitive with technologies like ChatGPT and Gemini by Google. The launch is scheduled for spring 2026, with the overhaul expected to be previewed at events like WWDC 2025 before its official debut.

In the meantime, Apple is taking a gradual approach to implementing AI features, prioritizing quality over speed. Some functionalities initially planned for 2025 have been delayed to 2026, reflecting the company’s caution in delivering a robust solution. Since June, subtler improvements, such as a new interface and text commands, have been introduced but have not addressed Siri’s structural issues.

The company has also partnered with organizations, including OpenAI, to temporarily integrate ChatGPT into Siri. However, Apple is focused on creating its own solution to reclaim ground in the AI race.

The wait until 2026, though lengthy, could result in a more advanced and competitive assistant, meeting users’ expectations for significant changes.
