According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to soon launch a cheaper MacBook that will use the chip from iPhones.

In a post on his X profile (formerly Twitter), Kuo explained that the MacBook, which is expected to become Apple’s cheapest, will use the A18 Pro processor, the same as the iPhone 16 Pro line.

Kuo explained that the cheaper MacBook would have the same 13-inch screen size as the current MacBook Air, suggesting that the chip might be the only specification where consumers would notice any difference.

The laptops are expected to come in more vibrant colors, such as yellow and pink, in addition to the traditional silver look. According to Kuo, MacBook production should start by the end of this year or early 2026.

He did not reveal a price estimate for the device, but suggested that, considering the sales target set for 2026 is between 5 and 7 million units, the MacBook’s price should be attractive enough to draw that large number of consumers.
