Moo Deng, a Thai baby hippopotamus who went viral on social media, had many guests at her first birthday celebration at the zoo.

The little hippo went viral last year when her keeper Atthapon Nundee started posting videos of her showing how she spent her days at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand.

In the clips, Moo Deng, whose name means “bouncing pig” in Thai, was seen doing everything from playing and eating to sleeping and bathing. The videos garnered millions of views and earned the baby hippo a true legion of fans.

But, to celebrate her first birthday last Thursday (10), the zoo team decided to throw a big party, and Moo Deng’s fans rushed to attend, with many flying in from other countries to take part in the special celebration.

According to the Bangkok Post, the zoo’s director, Narongwit Chodchoy, said they expected at least 20,000 visitors for the festivities on the first day of the four-day event, which runs until Sunday (13).
