The little boy with “uncombable hair syndrome” is winning hearts on social media thanks to his unique style.
When Katelyn Samples first posted a photo of her son Locklan, who was 10 months old at the time, a stranger asked if her baby might have uncombable hair syndrome. Samples knew her son’s hair was unique but had never considered it might be a medical condition.
Locklan was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that makes a child’s hair grow drier, coarser, and in a disorganized way, making it nearly impossible to comb.
Samples found support and information in a Facebook group for parents of children with the syndrome and, following her husband’s advice, created an Instagram page featuring photos of Locklan and his incredible hair.
The baby’s charm, his big blue eyes, and his unique style quickly captivated online audiences, who were fascinated by his blonde, fluffy hair. Locklan is one of about 100 children worldwide confirmed to have this diagnosis.
Samples hopes that the social media page she created for him can raise awareness about the rare condition and help exchange information with other families with children like hers.
