A former Facebook employee has released a controversial book detailing the years she worked at the big tech, including some shocking revelations about Mark Zuckerberg’s former right-hand.
Sarah Wynn-Williams, author of the book Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism, worked at Facebook for six years.
In the book, she details how Sheryl Sandberg, the company’s former COO, spent $13,000 on lingerie for herself and a young assistant during a business trip to Europe.
During this trip, Sarah describes how Sandberg and her assistant, “Sadie“, then 26 years old, took turns sleeping on each other’s laps and stroking each other’s hair.
In the book, Sarah also reveals that Sandberg became visibly irritated when she declined her offer to join her in “the only bed on the plane” during a private jet flight home.
Williams left the company in 2017, before it was rebranded as Meta. In a statement to The New York Post, a big tech spokesperson claimed that the allegations were “false accusations against our executives.”
“Eight years ago, Sarah Wynn-Williams was fired for poor performance and toxic behavior, and an investigation at the time determined that she had made misleading and unfounded allegations of harassment,” the spokesperson said, alleging that she is now “being paid by anti-Facebook activists.”
