A police operation carried out by the Civil Police of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, successfully recovered over 10,000 stolen phones.
The operation, named Big Mobile, was investigating the whereabouts of thousands of phones through reports of thefts, which were registered between January and February of this year.
According to information from the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, around two thousand police officers participated in the operation. The agents were spread across the city of São Paulo and the metropolitan area of the state.
Using information provided by the victims, including the GPS location of the devices, the police managed to track the location to where the phones were directed after the crime.
Now, the phones will be analyzed and returned to their owners, who will be identified through the devices’ IMEI numbers, according to the SSP-SP.
