OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, one of the most famous AI tools in the world, rejected an offer from Elon Musk to acquire the company.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Musk offered 97.4 billion dollars to acquire the non-profit organization that controls the OpenAI startup.
The offer from the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and X (formerly Twitter) came months after the businessman sued OpenAI in an attempt to prevent the company from transitioning to a for-profit model.
“No, thank you, but we will buy Twitter for 9.74 billion dollars if you want,” responded Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, in a post on X.
It’s worth remembering that OpenAI was valued at 157 billion dollars in October 2024, solidifying its status as one of the most valuable private companies in the world.
