According to 9to5Google, OpenAI is developing a ChatGPT app based on Large Language Models (LLMs). The new version of ChatGPT hints at the development of features similar to those of Google Assistant, such as the ability to replace it in long-press gestures on Android.

ChatGPT aims to position itself as a voice assistant on Android, following the example of other apps like Cortana and Alexa. The latest version of the app reveals code elements indicating work in progress to enable ChatGPT to replace Google Assistant in certain interactions.

While the release date and the free or paid nature of these additions to ChatGPT remain undefined, the observation of new activity in the app’s code suggests progress towards establishing ChatGPT as an assistant option in the Android ecosystem.
