Those who watched the 2015 film Ex Machina and thought it was just science fiction might want to start worrying. A company has unveiled its new humanoid robot with such realistic details that it’s making internet users uncomfortable.

Realbotix has created what they call a “modular and conversational robot designed for maximum customization,” which was presented by the company during CES 2025 in Las Vegas.

“Whether you choose from our pre-created characters or opt for a fully customized humanoid, Realbotix offers a robot made to your exact specifications,” they said.

In a YouTube video showcasing one of the robots, they also explained that they were able to combine “aesthetic and realistic movements with advanced engineering” to create “meaningful human-robot interactions.”

Full-body robots can cost over $200K, but they also have “bust” versions, which are slightly more affordable. Andrew Kiguel, the company executive, introduced the Aria model during the tech event.

“This is our humanoid robot with a primary AI. She’s highly realistic, has her own social media, so she could be competing with you one day. What makes her really special is that you can talk to her and ask her questions,” he explained, according to a Daily Express report.

“Some of our colleagues in the robotics space are making robots to replace human work. We think that’s a great area, but we think there’s a much bigger area in having social robots.”

Despite the intriguing nature of the innovation, internet users have expressed concern. “How do people feel so comfortable with this is crazy to me,” said one user on X. “This makes me so uncomfortable,” admitted another. “If this becomes a mainstream consumer product, I’m moving to the mountains in isolation. Just weird, man,” said a third.
