A woman discovered that the handyman she hired to disassemble her TV was having his birthday on the same day, so she decided to do something special for him.
Totsionna hired Reggie through Facebook and, after scheduling the service, she found out that the agreed day was his birthday. Even though she didn’t know Reggie, she decided to buy him a cake to celebrate the occasion.
In a post on Instagram, Totsionna shared the story with her followers. In the clip she posted, she tells the story of the surprise.
“I hired a guy on Facebook to disassemble my TV, and I saw that it was his birthday,” she says in the caption. In the video, Totsionna enters the living room where Reggie and his coworker are disassembling the TV, and surprises him.
She is holding a birthday cake with white and yellow frosting that says “Happy Birthday Reggie,” with six candles lit. As she enters the room, she says, “Happy Birthday!”
He seems to be in disbelief, but then smiles and says, “You’re crazy!” As everyone sings Happy Birthday, Reggie, somewhat awkwardly, thanks her for the attention.
Shortly after, a funny moment happens; after Reggie blows out the candles, his coworker becomes so emotional that he thanks Totsionna, and she laughs, joking about him saying “thank you,” since the surprise wasn’t even for him.
Since Reggie is Muslim, he explains that it’s the Ramadan period, and he is fasting, but he will definitely enjoy his birthday cake later that day.
Totsionna’s kindness touched internet users, who praised her gesture in the comments of her post.
“He will never forget this kindness,” wrote one. “Man, I’ll think about this my whole life, this was so cute!!” said another.
“I love people who are thoughtful towards others, basically, who would think of coming to work and receiving a birthday cake from a stranger? This says a lot about your personality,” commented a third.
