As AI takes over the job market and begins cutting employment opportunities for humans, Bill Gates made a prediction for the future.
The billionaire had previously warned that a number of jobs performed by humans would become obsolete in a few years with the rise of AI, but he believes that three jobs will be safe from this trend.
Gates started by saying that developers can rest easy, as while AI can generate code, it is far from perfect. People will need to monitor it, fix errors and bugs, and design even more advanced systems.
Energy experts would also be safe, according to Gates, who said he believes the energy sector is too complex for AI to handle, at least for now.
The oil, nuclear, and renewable energy sectors require strategy and a lot of expertise to have a fully automated industry. Therefore, engineers, researchers, and technicians would still be needed to manage infrastructure, understand the challenges of the industry, and create innovations for the future.
Lastly, Gates mentioned biologists. While AI can be (and already is) used as a tool in the medical industry, the technology lacks the creativity necessary for scientific discovery.
So, in the meantime, experts will likely use the system only to analyze large amounts of data and diagnose diseases, according to him.
