Eight Russian drone operators lost their sight due to the remote detonation of FPV goggles supplied by volunteer organizations.
Between January and February 2025, several NGOs sent approximately 80 sets of Skyzone Cobra FPV goggles to various units of the Russian Armed Forces.
However, in early February, a series of sabotage attacks involving the remote detonation of the FPV goggles took place across several Russian military units, according to a report from the Dossier of the Spy channel on Telegram.
The first case of an improvised explosive device embedded in the goggles was recorded on February 4. As a result of the explosion, a soldier suffered injuries to the face and eyes.
Between February 4 and 7, seven more explosions of similar devices were recorded in the regions of Kursk, Luhansk, and Donetsk. A C-4 explosive, a detonator, and a battery were found inside the FPV goggles, which were triggered when the cooling fan was started.
All organizations received the goods from the same person who provided them as free aid to the Russian military. The search and seizure of the sabotaged goggles is still ongoing.
