WordPad was launched in 1995 alongside Windows 95 and is a program used to create and edit basic text documents, with fewer features compared to, for example, Microsoft Word. According to the company:
“WordPad is no longer being updated and will be removed in a future version of Windows. We recommend using Microsoft Word for text documents like .doc and .rtf, and Windows Notepad for simple text documents like .txt.”
Despite this announcement, Microsoft has not yet disclosed any specific end date for WordPad in Windows.
