Comments from a tech industry expert about which jobs will be replaced by artificial intelligence in the coming years are dividing opinions online.

Amjad Masad, a former software engineer at Yahoo! and Facebook and current CEO of Replit, was a guest on the podcast The Diary Of A CEO in a special 2.5-hour episode on the topic.

During the conversation about AI’s takeover of the job market, Masad stated that with a few more improvements, the technology will make many jobs “redundant” in the coming years.

“You’re sitting in front of a computer, clicking and typing things in a specific order… these technologies are coming to market very quickly and will replace a lot of labor,” Masad explained.

Beyond office work, accountants, lawyers, and even essential positions in the healthcare sector could also be at risk due to the advancement of AI, according to the entrepreneur.

“The healthcare ecosystem is difficult to predict because of regulation, and there are many limiting factors in how this technology can permeate the economy… But unregulated jobs that are purely input-output text—those jobs are at risk.”

In the comments, Masad’s arguments sparked debate. “I’d love to see that same panel with people who are about to be replaced—especially if they don’t even realize it yet,” one viewer wrote.

“Feels like the beginning of a sci-fi movie where no one listens to the nerd who’s trying to warn everyone. And the bald guy in red is definitely the villain,” joked another.

“These entrepreneurs think it’s great to launch new businesses easily, without thinking about the fact that there might be no customers left for them,” said a third commenter.

“Great conversation. What scares me isn’t job loss—it’s the lack of empathy from tech leaders and policymakers. You’re pushing a large portion of the population into living lives without wellness or meaning. We’ll all regret not doing something sooner. I hope I’m wrong,” another viewer reflected.
