HONOR, the Chinese smartphone company, has announced new deepfake detection software that uses AI to detect AI.

To assist in detecting artificial intelligence in photos and videos, the software analyzes millions of individual pixels on the phone’s screen to look for things like face swaps or other AI-related artifacts.

Pixel defects include problems with edge composition, irregularities between video frames, and unusual facial features, such as proportions between the face and ears or anomalies in the hair.

The software, which will already come pre-installed on the company’s new Magic Pro 7 phone, will be officially released next month.
