Beyond Aero, a French aviation company, has recently updated the design of the first hydrogen-powered electric light jet.
The BYA-1 jet, set to launch by 2030, will be cheaper than conventional jets, according to the company, which also promises a 50% reduction in cabin noise.
With a simplified electric powertrain and no need for a high-temperature turbine, the company highlights that these innovations will reduce operating costs by up to 55%.
Additionally, fuel costs could decrease by 17% to 65% with the use of hydrogen, “making it an economical option for corporate clients and operators transitioning to low-carbon aviation.”
The company has already received 108 letters of intent for sales but still needs the necessary certifications from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency if the aircraft meet the required standards.
