By encouraging and promoting the use of ‘passkeys‘, Google aims to reduce the use of conventional passwords, replacing login with a simpler and more practical way.
“Access keys are a simple and secure alternative to passwords. They allow you to log in using just your fingerprint, facial recognition, or screen lock,” says the company.
Google will begin notifying its users, suggesting login with ‘access keys,’ explaining the methods of access and providing shortcuts to add them to the respective account.
‘Passkeys’ are considered less vulnerable to cyberattacks and leaks, in addition to the convenience of users not having trouble remembering the standard password. It’s worth noting that even after enabling the access key, ‘normal’ passwords can still be used as usual.
