Similar to a “wrapped” from Spotify, this feature generates a fairly detailed report of the messages you exchanged during the month. However, keep in mind that the app may take up to three days to create your first dossier.
It might seem alarming to realize how much data the app has about you, but in fact, the tool was created specifically to let you see exactly what WhatsApp and, consequently, Meta knows about you.
Among the things revealed in the report are: name, profile picture, app settings, privacy and security settings, as well as the names and phone numbers of your contacts, the total number of messages sent and received, groups you’ve created and joined and their respective members, blocked accounts, and even times for editing profile pictures.
It’s important to note that the content of your messages does not appear in the reports, as they are not stored by Meta. According to the company, WhatsApp cannot read your messages because they are encrypted. So, the report only contains things that WhatsApp can actually access.
How do I request my report?
To request a report about you, first open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Account > Request account info.
Now, simply tap on Request Account Report, and WhatsApp will begin creating it. Your screen should display the message “Request Sent,” and below it, there should be an approximate date of when the report will be ready, which may take up to three days.
