The Hubble Space Telescope used its official X account, formerly known as Twitter, to share a new snapshot of an irregular galaxy located millions of light-years from Earth.

Officially cataloged as NGC 2814, the irregular galaxy is situated approximately 85 million light-years from Earth. Although it appears isolated, this galaxy has three close neighbors, although not visible in the image: NGC 2820, a side-spiral galaxy, IC 2458, an irregular galaxy, and NGC 2805, a front-spiral galaxy. Together, these galaxies form the Holmberg 124 group, also known as “late-type galaxies.”
The term “late-type” refers to spiral and irregular galaxies, while those labeled “early-type” apply to elliptical galaxies.
