Fifty years after the first two missions to the Moon, the Indian orbiter Chandrayaan-2 took new photos showing the exact locations where the lunar modules of the Apollo 11 and 12 missions landed. The images went viral on social media.

The photos were taken in April 2021 and shared by the X profile, the former Twitter, Curiosity.

The Chandrayaan-2 mission was launched on July 22, 2019, exactly 50 years after Apollo 11.

“Image of Apollo 11 and 12 taken by India’s Moon orbiter. Disapproving Moon landing deniers,” wrote Curiosity on X, in the caption of the images showing the vehicles used in the mission that took Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the Moon in the Apollo 11 mission of 1969.

The Eagle lunar module was left in lunar orbit after reuniting with the command module where Michael Collins was. Collins was the third astronaut of the mission.

Apollo 12 took place on November 19 of the same year, with Charles “Pete” Conrad and Alan Bean being the third and fourth men to walk on its lunar surface.
