An Indian YouTuber who recently traveled to Pakistan has been arrested in India on charges of being a spy for the Pakistani government.

Jyoti Malhotra, a content creator who recently documented her trip to Pakistan on her YouTube channel, has been accused of sharing sensitive information with the Pakistani government.

The case comes amid growing tensions between the two countries. According to the police, Malhotra had been in contact with a Pakistani intelligence agent who had prepared her to become a “resource” for Islamabad.

The police claimed that Malhotra remained in contact with the agent during the deadly four-day battle that took place earlier this month, marking the most intense conflict between the two countries in decades.

“She was a travel blogger, and during the interrogation, it was discovered that in her pursuit of views, followers, and viral content, she fell into a trap,” said Superintendent Shashank Kumar Sawan.

Sawan also stated that Malhotra regularly traveled to Pakistan on “sponsored trips” and that she was in contact with other YouTubers who were also reaching out to Pakistani intelligence agents.

Malhotra has over 300,000 subscribers on her channel, where she has already posted videos from trips to Bali, Indonesia, and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as well as other international destinations.

She describes herself as a “nomadic traveler,” but the police are still investigating how she funds these trips. “We are reviewing her financial details… Her travel details challenge her source of income,” revealed Sawan.

In a series of videos posted in March, Malhotra documented her trip to Pakistan, where she was seen using public transportation, exploring local markets, and visiting the country’s largest Hindu temple, which is predominantly Muslim.
