An influencer who was accused of poisoning her daughter to post on social media has been arrested in Australia, according to Queensland police.

The 34-year-old Australian woman was accused of deliberately poisoning her daughter to gain followers. On social media, she claimed that she needed money to help her daughter, who was suffering from a “terminal illness.”

She was arrested last Thursday (January 16) in the city of Logan, south of Brisbane. Detectives claimed that she was intentionally drugging the baby and had raised over $36,000 through scams via online fundraising campaigns.

“We are dealing with GoFundMe, and I understand, from my investigators, that they are trying to return that money to the people… who donated it,” said Inspector Paul Dalton of Queensland Police.

Authorities revealed that the child could have died if she had stayed under the mother’s care. Despite becoming seriously ill from the mistreatment, the police stated that the child is now doing well.
