Each user can go to Stories, create a post, and add the ‘Add Yours Templates‘ option, where they can include photos, videos, GIFs, and text, starting a new trend among platform users. For example, “only post photos from last Christmas” could be a trend, embracing the festive spirit and encouraging friends and followers to share pictures from their galleries.
Once the first template is created and shared, all followers can use and replicate it. According to Instagram’s director, Adam Mosseri, in his platform livestream, the new feature encourages user creativity:
“Today, we rolled out the ability to create your own Add Yours templates. You’ll be able to develop and share your custom meme-compatible templates, pinning GIFs, text, and gallery images – and template creators will be credited when others participate in the trend. We hope this provides people with more ways to express their creativity in Stories and share what they think.”
