Amid the global race for cutting-edge technology, Iran is using artificial intelligence to fire guided missiles.

According to IRNA, the country’s state media, the shots were successfully carried out during an exercise by the Revolutionary Guard in the waters of the Gulf.

The Revolutionary Guard’s naval force reportedly fired “Ghaem and Almas missiles equipped with artificial intelligence from the advanced Mohajer-6 and Ababil-5 drones,” which proved capable of destroying “hypothetical enemy targets.”

Ghaem and Almas are precision-guided missiles developed internally by the Iranian Ministry of Defense. The deployment of the missiles comes months after remarks from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, urging authorities to “master artificial intelligence.”
