Following identity changes, X, formerly known as Twitter, will stop calling posts ‘tweets,’ or ‘tuítes’ in Portuguese, by the end of this month.

The word, which has been in dictionaries for some years now, will be replaced by the term ‘post’ and other similar variations. As for the word ‘retuítes,’ which referred to commenting on someone else’s post, it will now be called ‘reposts.’

From Twitter to X

Since the social network was acquired by Elon Musk in October 2022, Twitter, now X, has undergone many changes, including its name and logo.

Musk’s goal is to transform ‘X’ into a ‘super app,’ going beyond the entertainment of a social network and offering other comprehensive services, such as financial transactions.
