The space observatory highlighted eight images that stood out the most in 2023. These include a photo of Uranus, Saturn, the M51 Galaxy, also known as the ‘Whirlpool,’ the NGC 1433 Galaxy, the Wolf-Rayet 124 star, the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A, the open cluster with a nebula in the Small Magellanic Cloud, NGC 346, and the Rho Ophiuchi star, featuring a close-up of the birth of stars similar to our Sun.

The James Webb is one of the largest and most ambitious undertakings of NASA and its international partners. Designed to be the successor to the Hubble, this telescope aims to significantly advance our understanding of the universe, especially in the areas of star and planet formation, exoplanet atmospheres, and galaxy evolution.
