Kalashnikov increases production of GSh-301 aircraft cannons

The Kalashnikov Concern JSC is increasing the production of GSh-301 aircraft cannons due to a significant rise in order volumes compared to 2023. The production plan for these cannons is being implemented on schedule for this year.

Currently, the GSh-301 is part of the armament of various aircraft, including the MiG-29, MiG-29K/KUB, Su-27, Su-30, Su-35 fighters and frontline bombers like the Su-34. State-of-the-art equipment and high-alloy steels are used in its production, ensuring excellent quality and reducing manufacturing time.

According to the company, during active combat use in the war in Ukraine, the GSh-301 manufactured by Kalashnikov Concern received no complaints from clients, confirming the high level of professional skill from Russia’s only manufacturer of aircraft cannons.

The single-barrel GSh-301 cannon was developed by the State Unitary Enterprise “Instrument Design Bureau” in Tula, by renowned weapons designers Vasily Gryazev and Arkady Shipunov. It entered mass production at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant (now Kalashnikov Concern JSC) in 1983, after being adopted for combat aircraft.

Nicknamed the “ballerina” in aviation due to its light weight and high rate of fire, the GSh-301 surpasses its counterparts in both precision and firing rate. According to many national and international military experts, the GSh-301 remains one of the best in its class in the world.
