A man appeared on Reddit to share an incredible story: he was saved from a stray bullet by his MacBook.

On the forum, user MartyMcFly_01 posted some photos and described what happened. He explained that he was living in Mexico City while studying medicine and was finishing his third year of college, so he was almost always studying at his desk, which was near a window.

“Last night, I was reading at my desk and decided to listen to music, which I normally don’t do while reading (it messes with my concentration), but I thought, what the hell, and opened the screen to start a YouTube playlist,” he said.

“Suddenly, while I was wearing my AirPods, a bullet went through the window, hit the back of my laptop screen, and ricocheted to the back of the room,” he continued, also posting a picture of the bullet in his room.

He emphasized that if it weren’t for his MacBook, the bullet probably would have killed him. “Keep in mind that I’m right in front of the monitor, and I guess it deflected the bullet enough (flying over my head) to hit the concrete wall and fall onto my bed.”

“I’m happy I’m not injured or dead because that thing broke the window with quite a bit of force. The saddest part is that now I’m screwed because my screen is broken,” he continued, also including a picture of the broken screen in the post.

“I’ve had this MacBook Air since 2017. This thing is a tank. It’s taken everything I’ve thrown at it. I think I’ll have to hook it up to a monitor until I can save up for a new computer or at least a repair. MacBooks for the win,” he finished.

It’s worth remembering that Apple’s MacBook Airs are typically made of aluminum, and they also include other elements like cobalt, tin, gold, copper, and steel. Aluminum is known to deflect bullets in some cases.
