Jeff Bezos showed off his latest rocket, the New Glenn, in a video on his X profile, developed by his aerospace company, Blue Origin.
On Friday, December 27, Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos shared a video of his newest rocket: the New Glenn, developed by his aerospace company, Blue Origin.
“Next stop: launch,” wrote the billionaire in his post on X, which received a comment from Elon Musk wishing him good luck.
The New Glenn, named after NASA astronaut John Glenn, was secured on a platform at Cape Canaveral, Florida, for the final rehearsal before its inaugural flight. The rocket stands over 90 meters tall.
The footage shows the spacecraft activating all seven engines for 24 seconds. This is the first time Blue Origin has operated the rocket as an integrated system.
The company’s CEO, David Limp, stated that all seven engines of the booster work together, generating power equivalent to two Nimitz-class aircraft carriers at maximum speed.
During the test, the New Glenn operated at 100% of its thrust capacity for 13 seconds.
