A mother shared on her social media the landline phone she installed so her children could practice and develop conversation skills, and her idea gained support from the internet.

With so much technology available, more and more children and teenagers don’t know how to have a conversation with someone unless it’s through messaging or video. Brittney Mast and her husband realized that their two children were so used to using FaceTime that they didn’t know how to carry on a conversation on the phone.

That’s when the couple decided that the kids would have to wait until they were older to have smartphones and opted to install a landline phone, as they wanted their children to be able to contact their grandparents and also have a phone to communicate when they were home alone.

The Mast family’s idea was liked by many parents who commented on the post made on Instagram; “We’ll do the same! Can’t wait! Probably next year,” said one mother.

“Yes!!! We did that. Hope it becomes a trend in the coming years. Forcing these kids to have a real conversation! No messaging!” commented another.

“The same reasons why I want a landline! If I fall and can’t get up, and can’t remember where I put my phone, then I need my kid to call an ambulance, right?” joked another.

Anyway, landline phones may seem obsolete to us adults, but for a child, it can be a big discovery. Brittney apparently liked the result and has already added other retro items to her home, like CD players for the kids’ room.
