NASA has showcased a spectacular image of the majestic spiral galaxy NGC 7331, considered akin to our very own Milky Way, in the ‘Astronomical Picture of the Day’.

The NGC 7331 is situated approximately 50 million light-years away, in the northern constellation of Pegasus. In the image, you can observe its disk tilted concerning our line of sight, revealing galaxies located beyond NGC 7331. The background galaxies appear smaller in appearance but are actually ten times more distant.
Some astronomers refer to this collection of galaxies as the “Deer Lick Group”. An interesting tidbit is that NGC 7331 has been identified since its earliest sightings but was not included in Charles Messier’s famous 18th-century catalog, which cataloged many remarkable celestial objects.
