Recently, astronomers and enthusiasts from around the world were amazed by the spectacular image of Herbig-Haro 211, a young star in formation, captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. Now, the image is featured as the ‘Astronomy Picture of the Day‘ by NASA.

In the image taken by Webb, besides providing a fascinating view of the birth process of a star, it’s possible to clearly see two narrow beams of particles being ejected from the forming star, creating a breathtaking cosmic spectacle.

In addition to the jets themselves, the image also reveals red shockwaves, which form as these jets collide with the surrounding interstellar gas.

It’s worth noting that Herbig-Haro 211 is located about a thousand light-years from Earth and can be found in the Perseus constellation.
