In the image, you can see three magnificent spiral galaxies, known as the Grus Trio, grouped about 70 million light-years away. The galaxies were captured on December 13, in the same field of view as the comet C/2020 V2 ZTF.

The comet, seen in the photo taken by Dan Bartlett, was on a trajectory exiting the Solar System, at a distance of approximately 29 light-minutes from Earth. And although the ZTF reached its peak brightness during its approach to the Sun last May and to our planet in September 2023, its brightness still rivals that of the galaxies in the Grus Trio.
