The Brazilian Navy successfully carried out the fifth launch of the National Surface Anti-Ship Missile (MANSUP), in an operation that involved the participation of the frigates Liberal and União and two AH-11B Wild Lynx helicopters.

According to the Navy News Agency, the launch took place last Wednesday (26), in the region south of Cabo Frio (RJ). The Liberal was the launching ship, while the União operated as an assistant ship. The Wild Lynx helicopters were used to collect telemetry data and monitor the test site.

The MANSUP is currently in the phase of producing a pilot batch for flight qualification. At this stage, the missile is equipped with a telemetry head, which replaces the combat head and is used to transmit flight data.

Surface-to-surface type, the MANSUP can be launched from ships or ground vehicles and has a maximum range of 70 kilometers, flying close to the sea and capable of operating in any weather conditions.
