Footwear bets on heating technology and fast recovery to enhance athlete performance

Nike has shared updates on its collaboration with Hyperice, a company specializing in recovery technologies for athletes. Named Hyperboot, the new shoe combines heat compression and dynamic air flow to provide massage to the feet and ankles.

According to Nike, the innovation was created to make warm-up and recovery more efficient, promoting optimal user performance. The starting price will be $899.

“The Hyperboot prepares the body for any challenge, whether it’s a sports competition or demanding routines for those who spend long hours on their feet,” explains Tobie Hatfield, Nike’s Senior Director of Athlete Innovation.

The goal is to offer benefits for both recovery and warm-up — two essential aspects of athletes’ physical and mental well-being, according to the brand.

“This partnership is the result of years of joint work between Hyperice and Nike, focused on creating innovative products to maximize performance and recovery,” highlights Anthony Katz, founder and president of Hyperice. “And this is just the beginning.”

Nike states that the Hyperboot has been tested by athletes from various disciplines, and the feedback received helped improve the design. According to the company, users reported a feeling of “lightness” and “freedom” in their feet and ankles right after the first use.

The launch of the Hyperboot is scheduled for May 17, 2025, in North America, both on nike.com and in selected physical stores. Global distribution will take place by the end of 2025.
