These customized versions of ChatGPT were announced in November 2023 during the first OpenAI developer conference. At that time, the company explained that GPTs provide a way for anyone to create a customized version of ChatGPT, useful for specific tasks in their daily lives without the need for programming skills.
According to OpenAI, over 3 million customized versions of ChatGPT have already been created by users. Now, creators can make their GPTs public on the GPT Store, earning money based on the number of people using their custom chatbot, while users can enjoy a wide variety of personalized chatbots.
It’s worth noting that the GPT Store, and consequently, the custom chatbots, are exclusive to users who subscribe to OpenAI’s paid services: ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise.
