The video showing a couple’s strategy to take their baby into a cave in Thailand is accumulating thousands of views on social media.
In the clip, which has already received over 500,000 views, Tora and Marcus, travelers from Norway, appear showing the idea they had to get through a cave with their baby.
The couple was at Emerald Cave, also known as Tham Morakot, one of the most famous caves in Thailand. It is located on Koh Mook Island, but crossing it is difficult.
They then came up with the idea of putting their baby in a plastic box to get to the other side. “We were a little hesitant at first,” Tora told Newsweek.
“But apparently, this was the normal way to bring babies into the cave, and he had done it hundreds of times before,” she added.
“As first-time parents, we are usually more cautious, but traveling to non-Western countries, we learn that if you want to take your kids, it sometimes means doing things a bit outside your comfort zone.”
In the video, you can see the baby is safe in the plastic box, with both parents wearing life vests to ensure the baby’s safety and staying under the supervision of their guide.
“I never would have thought of this solution, but our tour guide had done it many times before. Our baby really enjoyed it, he was laughing and celebrating inside the box,” she said.
Although they were praised for their creative solution to reach the tourist destination, the video also attracted some critics who were concerned about the baby’s safety.
“I’ve been doing this for years and the criticism doesn’t affect me anymore, especially when I evaluate my choices to ensure they align with my values,” Tora concluded.
